When you were kid, did you ever dream of having the circus in your backyard?
I may not be a kid anymore, but that childhood dream is coming true. And it’s not just any circus. The best of the best, Cirque du Soleil, is coming to my hometown this July. Since Spacemall doesn’t exactly have a backyard, Volta isn’t in my backyard. It’s at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks Fairgrounds, or about three blocks from us here at Spacemall Storage.
Not familiar with the fairgrounds? That’s because the big top and the fairgrounds are all new just for Cirque du Soleil.
The big top tent will be visible from Route 422 and everyone here in Oaks is getting excited as the final preparations for the show are underway.
Have you seen Cirque before? You’ve never seen them like this! This show promises the “adventurous spirit, culture of street sports and acrobatics come together in the visually striking world of VOLTA.” Volta open in New York in May and plays there through the end of the month before heading to see us in Oaks.
Wondering exactly what Volta is? Volta is about freedom. The freedom to be a kid dreaming of a circus in your own back yard or, as the Cirque website puts it, “VOLTA is a captivating voyage of discovery. It’s about finding yourself, and unveiling your personal powers. Inspired in part by the adventurous spirit that fuels the culture of street sports, the show weaves acrobatics in a visually striking world driven by a stirring melodic score.”
“VOLTA is a story of transformation. It is about being true to oneself, fulfilling one’s true potential, and recognizing one’s own power to make it possible. Ultimate freedom comes with self-acceptance, and with the liberation of the judgement of others.”
WAZ, is a gameshow contestant that has lost touch with himself. He’s ashamed of who he is because of his difference. He enters the show in search of fame, thinking that this will bring him love and acceptance from others. What he finds is something else. That fame is not the answer. If fame doesn’t provide freedom and acceptance, then what does? Will WAZ reconnect with his true self – and stand up for all that makes him truly unique? Will he realize that his difference is what makes him extraordinary?”
Sounds amazing, right?
